Ice Skating Season

Ice skating season is here. And, perfect timing, today I completed my first ever skating course.

The course I enrolled in, run by the city of Ottawa, is called Skating: Intro to Ice.

The class description reads A learn to skate program for adults who are new to ice or have limited skating experience, so we renamed it at home as Skating for Immigrants because, well, if you are an adult living in a city that prides itself of having the longest outdoor skating ring it is likely that you can skate. Anyway, we were not wrong.

The class was a blast, I fell every day at least twice (expect today!), sometimes I fell in a very elegant and controlled way, some other times I really appreciated being forced to wear a helmet.

Speaking of ice skating, the outdoor ice rinks are already open.

And all the infra in the Rideau Canal is ready. All is left is 10 consecutive days of temperatures below -10 C for the ice to be safe to skate.
